The Chinese Five Element cycle recognises two seasons for summer. The current heat and humidity are typical of full summer, whereas after the worst of the heat has passed we experience what the Chinese call Late Summer - that time of gentle balmy days as the season wanes towards Autumn.
Many people feel very challenged by this full summer weather. They have difficulty in sleeping because of the heat and the humidity can feel very sapping of the energies.
In acupuncture we do Seasonal Treatments and at the moment I am giving all of my clients their Summer Treatment to help them cope better with the rigors of the season.
Many people feel difficulties in adjusting to the seasons, and this is where acupuncture can help us to cope better.
For example, I know that many of my clients feel depressed as the summer turns into Autumn. This is the time to have a treatment to help us adjust to the different energies out there in nature.
The reducing daylight, the cooling temperatures, the falling leaves and the ending of the summer flowers all take their toll and especially for those who are depressed, the thought of the gloomy winter months to come can cause a big mood dip.
Acupuncture is excellent for reducing stress - mental or emotional. I do a wonderful treatment called "The Aggressive Energy Drain" which is a bit like releasing the steam from a pressure cooker. It helps clients to relax and enables them to cope with life when maybe they have been hanging on by their finger-nails.
I did a treatment this week using a point on the Conception Vessel that is brilliant for helping people cope with extreme traumas like relationship problems (rejection, hurt feelings, etc). I have used it on clients who have experienced marital break-up, desertion and family rows in order to help them cope with the situation they are in. It can be miraculous as it helps to release the tensions and the weight of emotional pain.
Well that is all for today. I hoped you enjoyed today's holistic healing musings.
